Fans of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds now have an added incentive to see advanced screenings of his biographical documentary 20,000 Days on Earth. Nick Cave will partake in a rare solo piano performance directly after the screenings in Los Angeles (July 10th), Montreal (August 1st), and New York City (August 4th). While Cave will perform at only these three screenings, each advanced screening coincides with a stop on Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ tour. This way, those really yearning for a double dose of Nick Cave that day won’t have to go far.

The documentary, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard an co-written by Cave, depicts 24 fictitious hours in the life of Nick Cave. So far the film has received positive reviews and snagged directing and editing awards at the Sundance Film Festival where it debuted. Hollywood Reporter David Rooney spoke of the film in his review “What makes 20,000 Days on Earth distinctive is that it provides an overview of the man and his art while creating the illusion that this has come together organically”.

Nick Cave is a more than interesting enough artist to be the subject of a film. Cave emerged on the scene in 1973 as the frontman for the Post Punk group The Birthday Party. When the band dissolved in 1984 he jumped ship and became the lead singer for The Bad Seeds, releasing fifteen studio albums over the past three decades. He is known for experimenting in all forms of art, being an avid sculpture and a published writer. In 2005 he wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed Australian western film The Proposal. A few years later he would adapt the novel The Wettest County in the World into the 2012 film Lawless.

As stated before, the screening will coincide with the musical tour, which kicks off June 14th at the Bonaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Screenings of the film won’t begin to coincide until the May 21st performance at the Minneapolis’ State Theatre with the film showing the following night at The Saint Anthony Theater.

Tickets for both the concerts and the screenings can be purchased at Nick Cave’s website here.
