This past weekend Chance The Rapper and Childish Gambino performed an impromptu duet together at the Governors Ball in New York City. It seems that the act was just a preview of what is to come because Childish Gambino has confirmed a collaborative EP already in progress. There’s no word yet as to when the record will come but the news is a delight to fans of both artists. The two most recently teamed up for the song “The Worst Guys” off of Childish Gambino’s December album Because The Internet. Chance also released several singles off of Gambino’s independent albums earlier in their careers.

Childish Gambino’s confirmation of the EP occurred today via Twitter in reference to their past collaboration. “Now that chance finally released his verse on “worst guys”, maybe he can hurry up and finish the rest of our EP.” Glover concluded his revealing tweet with a “hint hint” hastag. Twitter has predictably retweeted Childish Gambino’s announcement all over Social Media, already drumming up immense anticipation for the EP.

Childish Gambino is known to many as Donald Glover, an WGA award-winning writer for 30 Rock and former cast member of the cult comedy Community. He is also a founding member of the Sketch Comedy Group Derrick Comedy. Seemingly unsatisfied with any success, Glover started a rap career under the moniker Childish Gambino, which he found off a Wu-Tang Clan name generation website. After a few self-released albums, Glover released his first studio album Camp 2011 to positive reviews and a number 11 debut on the Billboard Hot 100.

Chance The Rapper (aka Chancelor Bennett) has achieved considerable success at the age of 21. Bennett began rapping professionally this freshman year of high school despite ridicule from teachers over his musical aspirations. Through consistent writing and performing Bennett became of the most promising rappers in Chicago. His most recent album Acid Rap that brought him national attention in 2013. Since then he has appeared on albums by Lil Wayne, Skrillex, Rapsody, and of course Childish Gambino.

Whenever the collaboration hits stores it will have to be after Childish Gambino’s current Deep Web Tour which is scheduled to run until this September.
