Burning Shapes – Silence Amplified

Burning Shapes take video sharing a bit too far in their music video for Silence Amplified. With a clever use of smart phones and tablets, the British Alt-Rock band depicts a tragic love story while providing a nice tour of the Southeastern coast of England. While production company Coffee Films describes the video as “the story of a guy who can’t say “I love you” and the dark places that drives his girlfriend,” there’s a second, timelier message present as well. In fact, this video shares a few thematic similarities to yesterday’s Call Me Cleo Video. Whereas that video stressed the impossibility of relaxation in today’s social media society, Burning Shapes takes it a step farther by depicting a man pressured to communicate when he has nothing to say. Despite his repeated assurances that “Silence Amplifies my love”, his modern girlfriend can’t come to terms with his inexcusably quiet demeanor. It’s a shame too, because his vocals make the song pretty catchy.
