Hip-Hop and R&B artist August Alsina has just revealed that he spent 3 days in a coma following his onstage collapse, which took place at Irving Plaza in New York City on Monday night. He posted the following message on his Instagram yesterday:

“This is a bit graphic but i wanted to share this w/ every follower of mine. iWoke up out of a 3 day coma… &This guy @banggang_moneyteam right here never once left my side. What I’m tryna say is cherish the ones in life who cherish you & take good care of yourself. Your life can be gone in a split second’. I’m recovering well and thankyou for all of your prayers & concerns. –Yung”

Alsina also included a photo of him in the hospital bed, heavily bandaged and appearing to be in a pretty critical state. The spill that caused his condition occurred in the middle of his performance on Monday night at Irving Plaza. Many witnesses said it happened seemingly out of nowhere, and that he appeared to be in “fine form” just beforehand. Sources from the venue said the artist wandered offstage mid-song and suddenly dropped onto the crowd barrier. Several fans captured videos of his collapse, which you can see here.

He didn’t return to the stage. The house DJ continued to play for a few moments until it was announced that the show was cancelled. Alsina was then rushed out of the venue on a stretcher. His personal security sent an update to his fans on Instagram, explaining that he was “OK and making a full recovery.” On Thursday, rapper Chris Brown posted a tweet regarding the incident, writing, “Y’all please say a prayer for my lil brother @AugustAlsina I love you bro.”

Representatives of the musician have now reported that he suffered seizures following his departure from the show. The doctors did not find any drugs aside from marijuana in his system, and believe the fall and subsequent coma were a result of dehydration and exhaustion. It is unclear whether Alsina’s upcoming Testimony tour dates will be affected. His itinerary includes a show this evening at Club Fever in South Bend, Indiana. However, there is currently no information posted regarding his plans for tonight.
