Chief Keef has released his new single, “Nobody,” after teasing a possible feature from Kanye West for a month. After being dropped from label giants Interscope Records less than three months ago, Sosa has come back with this single. “Nobody” includes a sample from RCA/Motown hit-man Willie Hutch, from his 1973 hit single, “Brother’s Gonna Work It Out.” This 1970s classic has been sampled many times from notable names, including Lloyd, Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, and fellow Chicago artist, Chance the Rapper.
The Glo Gang artist still raps with the same trademark lyrics referencing the hood, violence, and many references to his gun. The song features the lyrics, “If I can’t fear nobody / I bet I can’t just talk to them / I don’t fear nobody / I can’t hear nobody / I can’t see nobody / Can’t compete with nobody no / Nobody / Nobody / You really don’t understand do you?” Chief Keef also talks about his distrust for the ones around him, his fear of no man or woman, and his rise from rags to riches. “Remember when I was broke / you really don’t understand do you / They thought I was a joke / You really don’t understand do you / That money, I was so in love with you / Til’ I die, I’ma sing to you / Cause I love you, I wanna be with you / You really don’t understand do you?”
Kanye West also adds auto-tune harmonization and ad-libs to contribute to the single. The two have been working together since Chief Keef’s controversial rise to fame back in 2012, with his single “I Don’t Like.” Kanye West remixed the song, recruiting his G.O.O.D. Music artists for a feature, and turned both versions into worldwide hits. Chief Keef then returned the favor by contributing to Kanye’s 2013 album, Yeezus, with a feature on West’s song “Hold My Liquor.”
Chief Keef is on the scene again, dropping this song today and the album EP, Nobody, tomorrow. Chief Keef’s single, “Nobody,” produced by Glo Gang producer 12Hunna and Kanye West, is now available for download on iTunes. The LP, Nobody, is also available for purchase.
