The producers of Headline News convinced 2 Chainz to engage in a televised debate against Nancy Grace on the subject of marijuana. The rapper is for the legalization of marijuana in all 50 states, and Grace is obviously opposed to the notion. The stern host is the complete opposite of the laid back hip-hop recording artist. While Grace seemed visibly upset on occasion, the rapper appeared calm and collective.

One of 2 Chainz’s arguments was the advantages of legalizing the drug, “We are in a deficit. We’ve got to find ways of getting out. If we got half of the states legalizing pot, and the rest of the community legalizes pot that frees up taxpayers money.” He continued, “That’ll allow us to do something with these extra funds from fixing potholes in the street to building stadiums. I’m down with it.” Grace asked if 2 Chainz believes everyone should have access to drugs, and she played a video of a woman trying to convince her young children to smoke marijuana. The rapper explained that anyone who loves their children, would never put them in harm’s way. He reiterated he definitely did not agree with the video Grace played. During the debate, he mentioned marijuana helps with anxiety, nausea, and helps people sleep.

In the past, Grace has suggested on her show that legalizing marijuana will contribute to a huge “crime wave.” Currently, there isn’t any concrete evidence to support her claim. 2 Chainz also spoke on the fact that people can get pot whether it’s legal or not. Yet he feels legalizing the drug could help the dilemma of overcrowded prisons, “I just feel like if you legalize this particular drug it could cut out certain things in the criminal justice system as far as the overcrowding of prisons.” The rapper also discussed the war on drugs and budget deficits. Grace promoted her debate against 2 Chainz on Twitter, by using the hashtag #pot2blame. Her goal was to have people on social media recount incidents where marijuana was the cause of a crime. After his debate with Nancy Grace, 2 Chainz went on social media and tweeted “Bill O’Reilly u (sic) up next.”
