Lady Gaga and RedOne Back in the Studio Together

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then Lady Gaga and RedOne are working together again. On Thursday, Lady Gaga posted a photo of the two of them in the recording studio. The dynamic duo were able to create a number of hit records together. Their first successful song was Gaga’s Just Dance,” which was the lead single from her debut album, The Fame. The song spent five months on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and sold over ten million copies. The duo’s other single LoveGamespent three consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart and achieved double platinum success. Poker Faceproved to be their most successful effort. In 2009, “Poker Face” ruled the music charts, topping the charts in twenty countries including the United States, Australia, and Canada. It is among the best-selling singles of all time, having sold over thirteen million copies. 

The following year, Lady Gaga and RedOne returned with The Fame Monster album. RedOne contributed four songs on the project including Bad Romance,” “Alejandro,” “Monster,” and So Happy I Could Die.” Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” won two Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video. The critically acclaimed music video also won seven MTV Video Music Awards in 2010. Gaga’s album Born This Way was the last project the two collaborated on to date. The project was released in 2011 and successfully sold over one million copies in its first week. The album’s debut was the largest first week album sales in five years. 

Lady Gaga went on to the release two projects in 2013 and 2014 without any production from RedOne. Her 2013 album, Artpop, featured production from, David Guetta, Rick Rubin, and Infected Mushroom. Gaga’s Cheek to Cheek album was a collaborative effort with Tony Bennett. RedOne also continued to work on other projects. He produced “Rain Over Me” (Pitbull featuring Marc Anthony), “Dance Again” (Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull), and most notably “Starships,” “Pound the Alarm,” “Whip It,” and “Automatic” for Nicki Minaj. Minaj’s “Starships” is currently her most successful single. It debuted in the top ten on the Billboard charts and spent twenty-one consecutive weeks in the top ten. “Starships” is RedOne’s most successful single since his departure from Lady Gaga in 2011.
