Rapper Tyga Reportedly Gets Reality Show on MTV

According to reports, Tyga has just signed a reality show deal with MTV. The reality show will be similar to Rob Dyrdek‘s Fantasy Factory, and center around Tyga’s life as a hip-hop recording artist and entrepreneur. The rapper’s rumored girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, will not appear on the reality show. Tyga’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Blac Chyna, is not expected to be on the reality show either. The reality show is supposedly in the process of filming, and Chris Brown is said to have already filmed a scene for Tyga’s show. Brown is a good friend of the rapper, and the godfather of Tyga’s son. The show is set to air some time in the spring.

Rappers starring on reality television shows has become quite popular. Hip-hop recording artists T.I., Nelly, Soulja Boy, Lil Scrappy, and Waka Flocka Flame are currently starring on reality television shows. In the past, rappers Jim Jones, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, Salt-N-Pepa, Joe Budden, and Reverend Run (Run-D.M.C.), all starred on successful reality TV shows. T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle premiered on VH1 in 2011, and it has been on air for four seasons. The show follows the life of rapper T.I., his wife Tameka ‘Tiny,’ and their children. Nelly’s reality show Nellyville airs on BET, and is in its first season. The premise of the show centers around Nelly’s life as a father and businessman. Nelly is a father to his biological children, and his deceased sister’s children too.

The biggest reality television show, relating to the hip-hop industry, is VH1’s Love & Hip Hop. The series is based in three markets including Atlanta, Hollywood, and New York. The show follows the lives and careers of rappers, singers, music producers, record label owners, and the wives and girlfriends of hip-hop stars. The series’ most successful show is Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta market. The Atlanta Season 3 premiere pulled in 5.6 total viewers. The episode ranked as the number one social show on all television. The demand for reality television shows are at an all-time high, and it seems the hip-hop industry is playing a vital role in the success of reality television.
