Following the success of his song, “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson‘s album is expected to debut in the Top 10 album charts. Ronson’s Uptown Special is projected to sell 25,000 (traditional album sales) and a total of 70,000 overall copies. The overall figure is based on traditional, TEA (track equivalent albums), and SEA (streaming equivalent albums) sales combined. The new Billboard 200 album chart will be revealed on January 21st.

Ronson has worn several hats in the music industry. He may be most-known as a DJ, but he has recently solidified himself as a producer, songwriter, and musician. Ronson released his first album in 2003 entitled Here Comes the Fuzz. The album didn’t perform well on the charts, and it sold a disappointing 18,000 copies in the US. Despite his disappointing debut, the producer went on to release two more albums. He released the album Version in 2007, and Record Collection in 2010. Unfortunately, none of the singles from his three albums charted on the Billboard Hot 100. His unfortunate luck on the Billboard Hot 100 changed on November 21, 2014. Due to digital downloads sold, Ronson made his first entry on the Hot 100 charts. The song not only made it to the charts, it also made it to the Number 1 spot. “Uptown Funk” is currently in its second week at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song is Ronson’s first number one single. The record has sold over 2.1 million copies to date.

Ronson’s successful hit was even a surprise to him. He spoke to Billboard magazine earlier this year, “No one was holding their breath for a Mark Ronson record in 2015. I’m sure I wasn’t on any Sony sales projections.” Ronson recalled how he reacted when “Uptown Funk” reached number one, “I called Bruno, we talked for a minute, and I said, ‘I’m going to let out a primal scream right now, if that’s okay.” Ronson’s Uptown Special album will feature appearance from Bruno Mars, Mystikal, and the legendary Stevie Wonder. Wonder will be featured on two songs including “Uptown’s First Finale” and “Crack in the Pearl Pt. II.”
