Fans may have been shocked when Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose announced they were getting a divorce last year, but fans may find Rose’s recent revelations even more shocking. In an interview on OWN’s Light Girls special, Rose explained that some members of her family didn’t accept Wiz Khalifa because he’s African American. Rose said that some of her family members did not attend her wedding because of Khalifa’s race. Rose’s father is Irish and Italian, and her mother is from Guinea.

During the Light Girls special, Rose said, “With my family- they feel like they’re more superior, or better than an African American, because we’re Creole and we have culture.” Rose continued, “That’s something that I’ve battled with most of my life.” Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose began dating in 2011. The two became engaged the following year, and married on July 8, 2013. Khalifa and Rose have a son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz. Rose also dated rapper Kanye West from 2008 to 2010. Rose did not say whether her family had an issue with her dating West.

Wiz Khalifa has released five studio albums to date, and he is expected to release an album this year. His 2011 album Rolling Papers debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard 200, and it sold 197,000 copies in its first week. Rolling Papers featured appearances from Rick Ross, Curren$y, Snoop Dogg, and Too $hort. The album’s biggest single was “Black and Yellow,” and it soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, selling over three million copies.

Khalifa referred to his 2014 album, Blacc Hollywood, as his “best work” because he was able to be more hands-on with the release. Khalifa also was able to put life experiences on this project. “We Dem Boyz” was the lead single from the album, and it is nominated for Best Rap Song at the 57th Grammy Awards. As reported, Wiz Khalifa will join Fall Out Boy for the 2015 Boys of Zummer Tour. The tour will hit the road on June 10th, and tickets will go on sale January 23rd on Live Nation’s website.
