The sister group Haim has started working on their second album. The album will feature production from music producer Ariel Rechtshaid, the same producer from their first album Days Are Gone. Este Haim posted a picture of Rechtshaid on social media with the caption, “Here we go again.” Haim consists of three sisters Este, Danielle, Alana Haim, and drummer Dash Hutton. The group is signed to Polydor Records, and they have a management deal with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation. Haim’s first album, Days Are Gone, reached Number 1 on the UK Albums chart, Number 6 on the Billboard 200, and charted in the top ten in over fifteen countries. The group is nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Award, making them the first sister trio to receive a Grammy nomination for best new artist.
The band has respectively toured with Florence + The Machine, Rihanna, and graced the stage at Glastonbury. During an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Alana Haim credits Kanye West‘s Yeezus as her favorite album of 2013, “It’s a f—ing masterpiece. I have yet to see Kanye not put out an amazing record- and people don’t understand how hard that is.” Haim added, “To make record after record and come out with something new and push the boundaries and have it succeed every single time is insane.” Although the group also credits Beyoncé, Aaliyah, Stevie Nicks, and Blondie as being huge influences, they don’t like being referred to as a “girl” band. “I just see us as a band. When people call us a girl band, I take it as an insult- being a girl in a band shouldn’t be a thing. It seems so medieval,” Alana Haim tells The Telegraph.
