The Grammys announced more performers for the February 8th awards show. Usher, Sam Smith, Pharrell Williams, Miranda Lambert, Common, and John Legend will all grace the Grammy stage. Common and Legend will perform their Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning song “Glory.” Madonna, Ed Sheeran, AC/DC, Eric Church, and Ariana Grande were also previously announced as performers. Beyoncé, Sam Smith, and Pharrell Williams lead all nominees with six Grammy nominations this year. Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, and Sam Smith are also nominated for Album of the Year; Beyoncé is nominated for her self-titled album, Williams is nominated for his album Girl, and Smith is nominated for his In The Lonely Hour album.

With the six nominations, Beyoncé is now the most nominated female artist in Grammy history. The superstar has been nominated for fifty-two Grammy awards. Beyoncé’s first nomination came in the year 2000, with her group Destiny’s Child, for the song “Bills, Bills, Bills.” The following year, Destiny’s Child was nominated for “Say My Name.” The group won two awards that night, giving Beyoncé her first Grammy win. The award for the most Grammy wins for a female artist goes to Aretha Franklin and Alison Krauss. Krauss has won twenty-seven Grammys, Franklin has won eighteen, and Beyoncé is third on the list with seventeen wins. Beyoncé is expected to surpass Aretha Franklin on February 8th. The pop singer is now seventh on the overall list for the most Grammy Award nominations. Quincy Jones has the most Grammy nominations with seventy-nine.

Pharrell Williams has earned seven Grammy wins, including two awards with The Neptunes. His breakout album Girl was released on March 3, 2014. The album’s lead single, “Happy,” has sold over ten million copies. “Happy” is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video at the 57th Grammy Awards show. The album’s other singles including “Marilyn Monroe,” “Come Get It Bae,” and “Gust of Wind” have all faired well on the Billboard charts, too. As previously reported, Girl is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. Girl has been certified gold, selling more than 510,000 copies worldwide.
