Drake, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Kendrick Lamar, and Avicii will headline the 2015 Wireless Festival in London. The music event will take place in Finsbury Park starting on July 3rd. Drake will headline the festival on opening night, Avicii and Lamar will headline the following night, and Guetta and Minaj will headline the event on July 5th. This will mark Drake‘s second year headlining the event, “This year we have an incredible lineup for New Look Wireless. We can’t wait to bring Drake back to the main stage, along with some of the best artists that span the world of hip-hop, dance, R&B, and UK Garage,” promoter Steve Homer of Live Nation said. Homer added, “This is our tenth birthday and we are really going to make it one to remember.”
Some of the other artists performing at the festival include Joey Bada$$, G-Eazy, Childish Gambino, Knife Party, Jessie J, August Alsina, Grandmaster Flash, and Logic. More artists are expected to be announced at a later date. The promoters and organizers of the music festival said, “Wireless is firmly established as the freshest, coolest, and most prestigious party on the United Kingdom festival calendar.” They also said they are adding new elements to the event, “We are combining music and fashion for the first time on this scale, New Look Wireless promises to be the most stylish festival yet.” The first Wireless Festival took place in 2005. The inaugural event featured performances by Moby, M.I.A., James Blunt, The Bravery, Basement Jaxx, LCD SoundSystem, Killa Kela, Lady Sovereign, Stereo MCs, and Death in Vegas. Avicii will head out on his Stories World Tour on February 27th, and the tour will end on August 21st. The 23-date worldwide tour will make stops in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Germany, and several dates in the United States. The EDM DJ is also expected to release his Stories album this year. He has not released an official date, but some expect he will drop the project before his upcoming tour. Stories‘ guest appearances include Chris Martin of Coldplay, Wyclef Jean, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jon Bon Jovi, and Serj Tankian of System of A Down.
