Morrissey has cancelled his show in Iceland because the venue serves meat, and the venue’s management refused to take meat off of the menu. Morrissey’s fansite released the following statement regarding the incident, “Morrissey has scrapped plans for a show at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland due to the refusal of management to sell only vegetarian food on the night of the projected Morrissey show.” The pop singer is a well-known animal rights activist, and he only performs in venues around the world that are meat-free. Moreover, Morrissey’s sophomore album is entitled Meat Is Murder. The singer released a statement in lieu of his cancellation, “I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return, but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust.”

Morrissey is supposed to be working on his new album this month. His last album World Peace Is None of Your Business was released last year. Five songs were produced from the album including “World Peace Is None of Your Business,” “Istanbul,” “Earth Is the Loneliest Planet,” “The Bullfighter Dies,” and “Kiss Me a Lot.” The project faired well on the music charts, and reached Number 2 on the album charts in the UK. It also reached the Number 14 position on the Billboard 200. Despite the album’s success, World Peace Is None of Your Business was the artist’s last release on Harvest Records.

Morrissey claims the record label did not promote his album properly. Things had gotten so bad between Morrissey and his label, that he began wearing wearing ‘F*** Harvest’ t-shirts at his concerts. The record label responded by selling ‘F*** Harvest’ t-shirts for $16 dollars. The singer and the record label parted ways months after the album was released. Morrissey released a long letter to his fansite detailing why his contract with Harvest Records didn’t work out. “I can be intensely persistent, and I certainly have an over-active fantasy life,” the singer wrote. He added, “But the Harvest experience tells us that despite the blinding flash of teeth and smiles, it doesn’t take much for the coin to flip and suddenly we’re all compromised and shattered.” Morrissey is heading on a six-date tour in the UK in March. The tour will begin on March 13th in Nottingham, and it will conclude on March 27th in Birmingham.
