Papa Roach‘s F.E.A.R. album debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. According to Nielsen Music, the project sold a little over 24,000 copies. The number two debut was the band’s highest ranking, since their Metamorphosis album debuted at number three on the charts in 2009. The album’s title, F.E.A.R., stands for “Face Everything and Rise,” which is also the title of their single. The song is currently Number 15 on the Hot Rock Songs chart, and Number 5 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

Papa Roach’s frontman Jacoby Shaddix spoke to Pollstar about the inspiration behind the album, and why the band chose to name the project F.E.A.R. “The new album is called F.E.A.R. We did the new album in Las Vegas. I didn’t want to make a record there. It is a city of some of my greatest failures,” Shaddix told Pollstar. He continued, “There was a lot of fear. [I was thinking] Was I just going to go there and lose myself again? It’s an easy city to do that. I found it quite the opposite. I gave myself 100 percent to the art.” Shaddix also mentioned facing his past demons was a perfect progression, and album tells the story of that progression. “There’s hope in this record, there’s light, there’s darkness, brokenness, resentment, anger, fear, but also courage,” Shaddix said to Pollstar. Papa Roach will be performing at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles today. The rock band is also performing dates in North America and overseas next month; including the Soundwave Festival in Australia on February 21st and 22nd, and February 28th through March 1st.

Papa Roach has released eight studio albums, which have sold more than twenty million copies. The band’s Infest album has sold more than eight million copies worldwide, and it reached the Number 5 position on the Billboard 200 chart in 2001. The project produced four singles including “Last Resort,” “Broken Home,” “Between Angels and Insects,” and “Dead Cell.” To date, Infest is Papa Roach’s best-selling album. In 2000, the band joined two of music’s biggest tours, including the Vans Warped Tour and the Anger Management Tour. The Anger Management tour was also headlined by Eminem and Limp Bizkit. The recording artists performed at over 100 shows in North America, Asia, and Europe.
