“I wanted to bring back kids dancing… those were some of the most fun and memorable times in my life,” A$AP Ferg said of his single, “Dope Walk.” “Dope Walk” was produced by Stelios Phili and hails from 2014’s Ferg Forever mixtape. After premiering last fall, Ferg has finally released a video for the song in which he claims his “walk meaner than Cara Delevingne‘s.”
Shot completely using an iPhone and directed by Matt Starr, the video revolves around fashion week. It also includes cameos by Justin Bieber, Haim, Jeremy Scott, Kanye West, Alexander Wang, Russell Simmons, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Virgil Abloh, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Nast, and Kris Jenner. The footage was then turned into a Facetime with Cara Delevingne watching.
Part of the A$AP mob, A$AP Ferg’s debut album, Trap Lord, was released late August 2013. After spending the year building his fan base and his debut single “Work” was released in August 2012, the video gained over two million views. Trap Lord debuted number nine on Billboard 200. He has since been awarded a BET Award for Rookie of the Year and collaborated with several artists, including Ariana Grande and Rich Homie Quan, who recently revealed he will be stepping away from his group, Rich Gang, to pursue his solo career.
Ariana Grande, whose 2013 album, Yours Truly, debuted number one on Billboard 200, making her the first artist since Kesha to have her debut album at number one. Her Grammy nominated sophomore album, My Everything, which Ryan Tedder helped pen, sold over 165,000 copies its first week and peaked in the top ten of twenty countries, each of its singles making it into the Billboard Hot 100 top ten.
Aside from her own tracks, Grande has collaborated with many successful artists such as Big Sean, Mac Miller, Nathan Sykes of The Wanted, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and more. Grande kicked off her Honeymoon Tour last night with Cashmere Cat and is set to guest-star in a recurring role on the upcoming show Scream Queens, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lea Michele. The twenty one year old has also recently had a Starbucks drink named after her, though whether it will become a regular menu item is unknown.
FDRMX Eyes: The Dodos have released their music video entitled “Competition.” The indie rock duo will be performing tomorrow night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
