Earlier this morning, Canadian songstress Carly Rae Jepsen took the stage at Good Morning America for the debut performance of her new single, “I Really Like You.” Jepsen released the track on Sunday (March 1st) after weeks of teasers that promised the track would hold up in comparison to her iconic hit, “Call Me Maybe.” Joined onstage by a full band and two dancing backup vocalists, the twenty nine year old pop star worked her way through the energizing track. The choreography was upbeat and fun, Jepsen’s vocals were strong, and Jepsen successfully introduced her new single to the masses that watch morning television. As the song came to a close, Jepsen’s face was alight with joy, after all, this was not a bad start to her day.

Jepsen has already shot a music video for “I Really Like You,” and she has teased fans with a few sneak peeks from the set of the shoot. In the scenes released thus far, Jepsen has been seen dancing on a crowded street alongside Justin Bieber and Tom Hanks. There is no official release date planned for the video yet; however, “I Really Like You” is expected to impact radio on March 24th. Thus far, fans and critics alike have enjoyed Jepsen’s return to music. In interviews leading up to the release of the single, Jepsen’s manager, Scooter Braun (who also manages Justin Bieber), promised that the song would be of the same caliber as “Call Me Maybe.”

Jepsen exploded onto the scene in 2011 with the support of fellow Canadian Justin Bieber and his then girlfriend, Selena Gomez, both of whom tweeted out a link to Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” after hearing it on Canadian radio. The carefree track became a defining song for the artist, securing her a Number One hit on the Billboard charts, the first for a Canadian since Justin Bieber’s “Baby” topped the charts. After procuring a record deal in America with Bieber’s management, Jepsen went on to release her album, Kiss, in 2012.

The musician topped the charts again with “Good Time,” a collaboration with Owl City; however, her other releases from Kiss did not perform quite as well. “I Really Like You” is Jepsen’s first release since her 2013 “Tonight I’m Getting Over You,” which peaked in the lower quarter of American charts.  Fans are hoping that this release will solidify Jepsen as more than a one hit wonder, and it seems as though she is off to a good start thus far.

FDRMX Eyes: G.O.A.T. is a rock band comprised of five members. They’ve released their music video entitled “Dead Thing.”
