Ledisi Among Performers at Playboy Jazz Festival

Ledisi, Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, and Wayne Shorter will headline the Playboy Jazz Festival on June 13 and 14th in Los Angeles. Some of the other artists on the lineup include Aloe Blacc, Ozomatli, Tower of Power, Jason Moran’s Fats Waller Dance Party, Morgan James, Melissa Aldana & Crash Trio, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and more. Comedian George Lopez will host the festival for the third consecutive year. 

Besides headlining the Playboy Jazz Festival, Ledisi is currently on her Intimate Truth Tour with special guests Raheem DeVaughn and Leela James. Tonight, the tour will make a stop in Houston (TX) at the Bayou Music Center. The following night, Ledisi will travel to Dallas (TX) at the Majestic Theatre, before heading to Tulsa (OK), Memphis (TN), St. Louis (MO), Chicago (IL), Cleveland (Oh), and several other cities in North America. The Intimate Truth Tour will wrap in Atlanta (GA) at the Atlanta Symphony Hall on March 29th.

The tour’s special guest, Raheem DeVaughn, has the Number 1 album on the Top R&B Albums chart. Love Sex Passion sold 13,000 copies in its first week of sales, and it debuted at Number 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Queen,” reached Number 10 on the Adult R&B Songs chart. All of DeVaughn’s five albums have debuted in the Top 10 on the R&B charts including, The Love Experience, Love Behind the Melody, The Love & War MasterPeace, and A Place Called Love Land. The R&B singer’s sophomore project Love Behind the Melody featured two Grammy-nominated songs, “Customer” and “Woman.” During his career, DeVaughn has worked alongside The Game, T-Pain, Wale, Talib Kweli, Beanie Sigel, Big K.R.I.T, The Roots, and many other mainstream artists. 

On May 24th, Raheem DeVaughn, Marsha Ambrosius, and Dwele will perform at a show entitled Soul Sessions: A Night of Neo Soul, which will take place at the DeVos Performance Hall in Michigan. It was recently announced that Ambrosius will also reunite with Natalie Stewart for a Floetry reunion tour this year. The duo first reunited on stage at a show in London last year, which was Floetry’s first appearance together in almost eight years.
