Ariana Grande is on her Honeymoon Tour, which made a stop in Detroit last night. Grande’s boyfriend, Detroit native Big Sean, made an appearance at the Joe Louis Arena concert. The rapper performed “Best Mistake” and “Right There,” which is Grande’s song featuring Sean. The pop singer is featured on Big Sean’s “Research” song, which is featured on his Dark Sky Paradise (Deluxe Edition) project. Dark Sky Paradise is the Number 1 album in the US, becoming the rapper’s first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Big Sean is featured in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair. The rapper discussed his Number 1 album Dark Sky Paradise, and how he is coping with the death of his grandmother. Sean told the magazine that he broke down crying when his project was released. “I just felt so emotional, I just fell to my knees. I was so thankful, and just crying. I felt like my grandmother was there with me,” Sean revealed to Vanity Fair. The rapper’s grandmother, Mildred V. Leonard, who he calls his hero, died on December 20th of last year. Sean said Leonard was the backbone of the family. He also stated that she came from nothing, but she became a very successful woman. Leonard was one of the first African American female captains in World War II. She was also a teacher, counselor, and police officer in Detroit. The rapper said he is truly inspired by his grandmother, and he hopes to accomplish great things in his lifetime too.

His grandmother died just days before the rapper was scheduled to fly home so he could play her “One Man Can Change the World.” The song is on his Dark Sky Paradise, which features guest appearances from John Legend and Kanye West. The rapper told the magazine that his grandmother deserved to have John Legend sing about her on a song. Sean acknowledged that he was thankful his grandmother lived long enough to see an African American President of the United States. Finally Famous was Big Sean’s last studio album, which was released four years ago. The rapper said he has grown a lot since his Finally Famous project, and he is proud of the man he has become.
