Kanye West will headline the Glastonbury Festival for the Saturday lineup. The festival already announced the Foo Fighters are headlining the event on Friday night. Sunday’s headliner has yet to be announced. Glastonbury will take place on June 24th through the 28th. There’s no need searching for tickets online, the festival is already sold out

West’s Glastonbury appearance has already caused a controversy. A petition to cancel the rapper’s performance was recently uploaded on the Change.org website. The petition aims to “Cancel Kanye West‘s headline slot and get a rock band.” The description for the petition, which already has over 200 signatures, states that the rapper is an insult to music fans all over the world. “Kanye West is a insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto [Glastonbury] and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Prevent this abolition now,” the description reads.

This is not the first time a rapper headlining Glastonbury has caused a controversy. Back in 2008, Noel Gallagher highly criticized the organizers for inviting Jay-Z to headline the event. Gallagher stated it was “wrong” to have rapper’s perform at Glastonbury because it goes against the history of the UK festival. During an interview with Bizarre, Jay-Z responded to the rocker’s criticism. “We don’t play guitars, Noel, but hip hop has put in its work like any other form of music,” Jay-Z said. He continued, “This headlining show is just a natural progression. Rap music is still evolving. From Afrika Bambaataa DJ-ing in the Bronx and Run DMC going platinum, to Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince winning the Grammy, I’m just next in line.” The rapper also stated that artists need to respect one another’s genre of music.

In typical Jay-Z fashion, the rapper headlined the 2008 Glastonbury Festival by performing a cover of Oasis‘ “Wonderwall.” For those who don’t know, Noel Gallagher was a member of Oasis, and “Wonderwall” was one of the band’s biggest hit records. During the “Wonderwall” performance, some sang along to the track, while most people chanted Jay-Z’s name. We’ll have to wait and see if Kanye West can silence his critics at Glastonbury this year, just like Jay-Z did seven years ago.

FDRMX Eyes: Just like Kanye West, Vee Miyagi’s hometown is Chicago, Illinois. The hip hop artist has released a music video entitled “One,” that features the streets of the windy city.
