Run the JewelsKiller Mike revealed he was attacked onstage while performing at South By Southwest (SXSW). The rapper said a man rushed the stage and tried to attack El-P (other half of Run the Jewels), and Killer Mike intercepted the man. Mike suffered a torn rotator cuff (shoulder) injury, and he was advised by a doctor to stop performing. The rapper told the crowd at Stubb’s BBQ venue that he was continuing to perform, despite the doctor’s orders. “[I told the doctor] I’m not leaving the road. The tour goes on,” Mike stated. According to reports, the man who rushed the stage accused Run the Jewels of stealing lyrics. Audience members at the show stated the man also tried to fight people in the crowd as well.

Earlier this year, Run the Jewels opened for Jack White at Madison Square Garden. In the spring, the rap duo will perform at the Georgia Theatre in Athens on April 4th. The rappers will also make an appearance at the Coachella music festival on April 10th and the 17th. Along with a performance at Coachella, Run the Jewels will make appearances at the Big Guava Music Festival (May 8th and 9th), Boston Calling Music Festival (May 22nd through the 24th), Sasquatch! Music Festival (May 22nd through the 25th), Primavera Sound Festival (May 28th through the 30th), and Forbidden Fruit 2015 (May 29th and 30th). The rap duo has several other music festivals on their busy schedule, including a stop at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago from July 17th through the 19th.

Run the Jewels have released two albums since the duo was formed in 2013. Their first project entitled Run the Jewels featured the songs “Banana Clipper” featuring Big Boi, “Twin Hype Back” featuring Prince Paul, “No Come Down,” and “Job Well Done” featuring Until the Ribbon Breaks. Their follow-up project, Run the Jewels 2, featured guest appearances from Travis Barker, Gangsta Boo, Diane Coffee, Boots, and Zack de la Rocha. The album produced three singles including “Blockbuster Night, Pt.1,” “Oh My Darling Don’t Cry,” and “Close Your Eyes (And Count to F***).”

Last month, Run the Jewels posted a photo of the duo in the recording studio with Massive Attack. The photo sparked speculation that Massive Attack will contribute to the duo’s next project.

FDRMX Eyes: Mark T. Smith and Matthew Cooper make up the rock duo called Inventions. Inventions has released a new music video entitled “Springworlds,” and the track can be found on their newest album, Maze of Woods.
