A$AP Rocky didn’t just reveal his new look in the new issue of GQ, the rapper also revealed what his A.L.L.A. album stands for. His forthcoming project stands for At.Long.Last.A$AP, and it is his most personal album to date. “I’m claiming ownership of my legacy. Look at it A.L.L.A. is like slang for Allah. It’s the return of the god MC,” the rapper boldly said to GQ

A.L.L.A. was recorded in London, and according to GQ magazine, the album has a “psychedelic” 1960s London sound. Some fans may be surprised to hear the rapper singing on some of the songs, and his vocals will be accompanied by an acoustic guitar. “We were literally wandering the streets at 4 [in the morning] on a Tuesday and this guy walked up holding a guitar,” Rocky told GQ. The British guy Rocky met on the street is named Joe Fox, whose acoustic guitar playing will be heard on the rapper’s upcoming album.

While Rocky won’t reveal too many details about his A.L.L.A. album (including not revealing the release date), one thing is certain, the new album won’t feature any mainstream songs. The rapper recently told MTV News that he hates “Wild For The Night” and “F***in’ Problems.” Both songs were hit records on the Billboard charts, but Rocky doesn’t feel they are true representations of who he is as a person and artist. The rapper said that he recorded “Wild For The Night” when he and Skrillex were both drunk. Rocky stated that the song is hard to perform because its just a simple party record without substance. He also said he has to be in a certain mood in order to perform “Wild For The Night,” and performing it when he’s sober is challenging.

A$AP Rocky told MTV News that he and the late A$AP Yams worked extremely hard to make sure A.L.L.A was an honest reflection of who he is. The new project features guest appearances from Lykke Li and FKA Twigs, and one of the few mainstream appearances will be from rapper Juicy J. Rocky stated that he is really proud of his album, although it’s a bitter sweet feeling. A.L.L.A. was the first A$AP Rocky album that Yams executive produced, and now he’s not here to celebrate the release and success of the project. A$AP Rocky is still trying to cope with losing his best friend Yams, who died in January earlier this year.
