Kendrick Lamar just leaped from Number 82 to the Number 1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100. His resurgence on the charts can be attributed to having the Number 1 album in the country. A couple of days ago, Lamar received his first chart-topper on the Billboard 200 with his To Pimp a Butterfly album. The project sold over 324,000 copies in its debut week. Besides tracking album sales, the Artist 100 chart also tallies song streams and radio airplay. To Pimp a Butterfly continues to make an impact on music streaming services. It made history on Spotify by becoming the most streamed (9.6 million streams) album in a single day. In addition to Spotify, To Pimp a Butterfly is also available on Rhapsody, Google Play, Pandora, Beats Music, and more. The album was just recently added on TIDAL, which is Jay Z’s music streaming company.

To Pimp a Butterfly is also expected to be the Number 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week. If the album manages to top the Billboard 200 charts again, it will be the second project since Taylor Swift’s 1989 (released in 2014)  to remain at Number 1 for two consecutive weeks. The projects that may spoil To Pimp a Butterfly’s Number 1 spot include Action Bronson’s Mr. Wonderful and Earl Sweatshirt’s I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside.

Kendrick Lamar recently filmed the music video for his “King Kunta” single, which is featured on To Pimp a Butterfly. The video was shot in his hometown of Compton (CA), and it was directed by Director X (Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Jay Z). The other singles released from the album include “i” and “The Blacker the Berry.” The single “i” reached the Number 11 spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and it peaked at Number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit song also won two Grammy Awards for Best Rap and Best Rap Performance. “The Blacker the Berry” was produced by Boi-1da (Drake, Eminem, and Nas). The record has received critical acclaim for its powerful lyrics and strong message against police brutality. “The Blacker the Berry” has impacted the US, UK, and Belgium music charts.

FDRMX Eyes: Novo Amor is a recording artist from the UK. The songwriter and producer has released a music video titled “Callow.”
