With influences such as the Shins, the Doors, and the White Stripes, The New Tarot presents us with an indie rock video titled “Makeup.” Sisters Monika and Karen Walker alongside actress Julia Garner (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Are What We Are) are portrayed in front of a gigantic white backdrop. We see Garner putting on makeup at the very beginning of the music video while Karen plays her keyboard on the floor and Monika strums her guitar. The video is highly filtered with splashes of dark colored hues, creating an old-school effect. Their music is trippy as it’s filled with synthesized vocals, heavy guitar riffs, hard-hitting drums, and solid bass. The Walker sisters alongside brothers, David and Dan O’Connor, and Ryan Ashe have only just begun their journey last year, headlining at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn and releasing their self-titled EP. Their music is wild and irresistible. Directed by Michael Vincent, this music video will send chills down your spine.
