Swedish post-hardcore outfit, Refused, has just announced a world tour which they will carry out this summer. It will be their first time touring together since their 2012 reunion tour, and since last month’s announcement that guitarist Jon Brännström would be leaving the band. Although the band had previously stated that they would remain a band past the year 2012, rumors continued among fans that the group would return, and may even be plotting a new album. The news that came out last year involving Jon Brännström’s departure strengthened these speculations that Refused was planning yet another comeback.

Formed in 1991 in Umeå, Sweden, the group released a total of five EPs, and three official albums before disbanding in 1998. Their final album, The Shape of Punk to Come: A Chimerical Bombination in 12 Bursts, came out just a few months before the band broke-up, but proved to be a huge contributor to their popularity. Due to it’s avant-garde leanings, ambient textures, and epic song-writing, The Shape of Punk to Come became one of the most acclaimed rock albums of the 1990s, and it’s title proved appropriate as it has influenced legions of other punk bands since.

This new tour will see the band going to much smaller venues than they did during their 2012 reunion. During that tour, Refused played at large venues like Terminal 5 (New York City) and The Warfield (San Francisco), while this tour will be taking them to venues that tend to have 500-people-maxiumum regulations.

The announced tour dates are as follows: May 2 GROEZROCK, Meerhout, Belgium; May 22 RUHRPOTT RODEO Open Air Festival, Hunxe, Germany; May 24 Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, Las Vegas, NV; May 25th The Observatory, Santa Ana, CA; May 26th The Roxy Theatre, West Hollywood, CA; May 28th Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, CA; May 29th Doug Fir Lounge, Portland, OR; May 30th The Crocodile, Seattle, WA; May 31st Double Door, Chicago, IL; June 1st The Sinclair, Boston, MA; June 3rd Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY; June 4th Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY; June 5th Rock and Roll Hotel, Washington, DC; June 20 Amnesia Rockfest, Montebello, QC, Canada; June 27 Provinssirock Seinäjoki, Findland; July 11 Rock im Ring Festival – Ritten/Italy Collalbo, Italy; July 16 RESURRECTION FEST Viveiro, Spain; July 17 Slottsfjell , Tonsberg, Norway; July 18 Buktafestivalen , Tromso, Norway; Aug 28 Leeds Festival, Leeds, UK; Aug 29 Pure&Crafted Festival Gräfenhainichen, Germany.
