J. Cole‘s 2014 Forest Hills Drive is certified platinum, after selling over one million copies. The project was released in December of last year, and it sold over 500,000 in a single month. 2014 Forest Hills Drive entered the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart, after selling over 300,000 copies in its first week. “Apparently” and “Wet Dreamz” were both released as singles from the project. “Apparently” reached Number 58 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Number 10 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
The rapper owns an independent record label with Ibrahim Hamad, which is called Dreamville Records. Hamad went on social media the other day to confirm, and celebrate, Forest Hills selling one million copies. “Heard it’s been more than 25 years since a Hip Hop album went platinum without one feature…New Day #2014ForestHillsDrive,” Hamad wrote on Twitter. This marks J. Cole’s first platinum-selling album, his first two albums have been certified Gold.
The rapper’s debut studio project, Cole World: The Sideline Story, has sold over 730,000 copies. The album features guest appearances by Drake, Jay Z, Missy Elliott, and Trey Songz, and music production from No I.D. and Kanye West. The project went to the top of the Billboard 200 in its first week, after selling over 200,000 copies. Cole World: The Sideline Story was supported by three singles, “Work Out,” “Can’t Get Enough” (featuring Trey Songz), and “Nobody’s Perfect” (featuring Missy Elliott).
J. Cole’s sophomore album entitled Born Sinner has sold an impressive 720,000 copies since its release in 2013. The project reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200, after sitting at the Number 2 position for two weeks. With features from Jhene Aiko, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, and 50 Cent, Born Sinner was considered as one of the best projects of the year. “Power Trip” (featuring Miguel), “Crooked Smile” (featuring TLC), “Forbidden Fruit” (featuring Kendrick Lamar), and “She Knows” were released as singles from the album.
J. Cole is currently on his Forest Hills Drive Tour, which was launched on March 2nd. The rapper’s North America dates include stops in Florida, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Alabama, Ohio, New York, and more. This month, Cole will perform in Richmond, (VA) on April 3rd; Rochester (NY) on April 4th; and Providence (RI) on April 7th.
After his North America leg, Cole will travel to Europe along with Jhene Aiko and Pusha T. The European leg will include stops in Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, and more. This summer, the rapper will return to the US for the third leg of his Forest Hills Drive Tour. The tour features Big Sean, Jeremih, and YG, with stops in Washington, California, Michigan, New Jersey, and more. The summer tour will launch on July 12th in Seattle (WA), and it will conclude on August 25th in Denver (CO).
