Country and pop music fans alike should be rejoicing in the wake of news that pop star Christina Aguilera will be gracing not one but two new singles with her signature belt later this month. The two singles are titled “The Real Thing” and “Shotgun,” and both are expected to be performed during Aguilera’s appearance as a guest star on the third season of ABC’s Nashville. Both singles will be released on April 21st, with Aguilera’s Nashville debut slated for the April 15th episode.

Aguilera’s premier episode is titled Nobody Knows But Me, and the pop star is set to play the role of Jade St. John, a pop star searching for national acclaim. In a short trailer from the show, Aguilera can be seen dancing on stage with bubblegum pink hair. It is possible that Aguilera could be performing either “The Real Thing” or “Shotgun” when she takes the stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 19th, but nothing has been confirmed at this point in time.

“The Real Thing” and “Shotgun” symbolize the first new music from Christina Aguilera since her 2014 guest appearance on Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want (Remix).” The pop icons performed the single on the season finale of the 2013 season of NBC’s The Voice. Aguilera also teamed up with A Great Big World for a duet on “Say Something,” which went on to win a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 100. She also hopped on the chorus for Pitbull’s “Feel This Moment,” riding the single to the number 8 spot on the charts.

2015 is shaping up to be a busy year for the “Genie In a Bottle” siren. The musician reclaimed her seat as a mentor on the current season of NBC’s The Voice, where she is currently coaching a team of hopeful musicians on how to make it big. Aguilera is also currently working on a solo album of material that is expected for an upcoming release.  Little is known about the album; however, it will be her first since 2012’s Lotus. Aguilera has been seen in the studio with Pharrell Williams, her fellow mentor on The Voice, and fans across the globe are patiently awaiting news about the album.

FDRMX Eyes: Nick Deutsch is a singer-songwriter and lyricist. The NY-based musician has premiered his music video for the single, “Crazy Ride.”
