With Sunday’s season five premiere of Game of Thrones coming up so quickly, it’s no wonder it’s all fans can think about. As a matter of fact, in a recent survey, it shows that Game of Thrones was pirated over six million times in the course of the last three months. While fans can’t seem to get enough of the HBO fantasy drama series, which is based off the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, it seems as though neither can the Blue Man Group. On April 7th the band uploaded a YouTube video of them performing the theme song to the popular series, stating in the description that “Blue Man Group‘s vow of silence to remain in place until Hodor’s status in season 5 is confirmed.” The group, which formed in 1991, used pipes, jars, and tubes among other things to put their unique spin on the score composed by Ramin Djawadi. During the performance, the group also managed to make their feelings about Hodor known by displaying his name as it scrolls up and down on their screens.

Fans were none too happy with the season four cliffhanger which left everyone wondering what the fate of Hodor, Bran Stark, and their friends would be. In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Commission, the actor that plays Hodor stated that neither he nor Isaac Hempstead-Wright will be filming for season five.  “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.” In a separate interview Wright, who plays Stark, mentioned that his plans for the near future are “The next season of Game of Thrones and school.”  With different media outlets reporting different things, it looks as though fans of the show, including the Blue Man Group, are just going to have to wait till the premier to see what the fate of their beloved characters will be.

The Blue Man Group, which is made of Matt Goldman, Chris Wink, and Phil Stanton, have won several awards and were even nominated for a Grammy.  Aside from releasing five albums, they have also performed with several orchestras, been in advertising campaigns for high profile brands, and have contributed to multiple film scores.

FDRMX Eyes: Nick Deutsch is a singer-songwriter based in New York. Deutsch recently revealed his latest music video for the song, “Crazy Ride.”
