Jared Leto Is Going to Be a Super-Villain

Jared Leto has been cast to play The Joker in the film Suicide Squad. The movie’s director, David Ayer, posted a picture of Leto sporting the character’s infamous green hair. Shooting for Suicide Squad will begin later this month, and it is scheduled to hit theaters on August 5, 2016. The DC Comics-inspired film also stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Cara DeLevingne (Enchantress), and Viola Davis (government agent Amanda Waller). 

Leto has mastered the art of the triple threat by building a career as an actor, singer, and songwriter. His film career includes starring and guest starring roles in How to Make an American Quilt, The Last of the High Kings, Urban Legend, Fight Club, American Psycho, Panic Room, Artifact, Dallas Buyers Club, and more. Leto earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a transgender woman in the movie Dallas Buyers Club (2013). 

In 1998, Leto formed the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. The actor-singer is the frontman and songwriter for the band, along with being the band’s piano player and guitarist. Thirty Seconds to Mars have released four studio albums including 30 Seconds to Mars, A Beautiful Lie, This Is War, and Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams. Their debut album 30 Seconds to Mars impacted the Billboard 200 at Number 107, and it peaked at Number 1 on the US Top Heatseekers chart. The project also reached the Number 2 spot on the UK Albums chart, and Number 12 in Australia. 

The follow-up project entitled A Beautiful Dream was more successful than Thirty Seconds to Mars’ first debut, and the album went to Number 36 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also peaked at Number 9 on the US Rock Albums chart, and it impacted the charts in the UK, Greece,  Switzerland, Australia, and more. The singles dropped from the album include “Attack,” “The Kill,” “From Yesterday,” and “A Beautiful Lie.” Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams was released two years ago, and it sold over 50,000 copies in its debut week. It entered the Billboard 200 at Number 6, becoming Thirty Seconds to Mars’ best album debut so far. To date, the band’s albums have accumulated over 15 million album sales worldwide.
