Jack White is opening a Third Man Records store in Nashville, Tennessee. The store will have a Blue Room, which will be designed for fans who want to record a song like Elvis Presley. “In the spirit of Elvis’ first recordings, a Third Man Records will open up the Blue Room to lucky fans and give them the opportunity to record themselves in the exact same way Elvis did in his first session at Sun Records in Memphis back in June of 1953,” White wrote on his website (via NME). The rocker stated the Blue Room will have one microphone, one song “cut directly to a 10-inch lacquer disc, and cut at 45rpm to be accommodating.” White was revealed as the purchaser of Presley’s first record, for which the rocker paid $300,000 for at an auction. White plans to reissue the record, featuring “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin,” for Record Store Day on April 18th.
White announced he is taking a long break from live performances. “After many years of performing in a multitude of configurations, Jack White is announcing that he will be taking a break from performing live for a long period of time,” White’s statement revealed. The singer will perform at the second weekend of Coachella (April 17-19th), and he will also go on a short-run acoustic tour in the US. The mini-tour dates will be announced on the day of the performances, which will be his first full acoustic set. The tickets will cost fans $3, and the tickets will only be sold at the venue. White’s acoustic set will feature Lillie Mae Rische, Dominic Davis, and Fats Kaplin.
As a solo musician, Jack White has released two studio albums entitled Blunderbuss and Lazaretto. The project featured the singles “Love Interruption,” “Sixteen Saltines,” “Freedom at 21,” and “I’m Shakin’.” White’s follow-up project, Lazaretto, also impacted the Billboard 200 at the top of the charts. The album peaked at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart, Top Rock Albums, and Top Tastemaker Albums chart too. Lazaretto also topped the charts in Canada and Denmark. “High Ball Stepper,” “Lazaretto,” “Just One Drink,” “Would You Fight for My Love,” “Alone in My House,” and “That Black Bat Licorice” were all dropped as singles from the Number 1 album.
