Kanye West has been full of surprises lately. First, the rapper performed an impromptu show in Armenia last week. Now, West joined The Weeknd onstage last night for a surprise performance at Coachella (second weekend). The Weeknd was reportedly performing an acapella version of the rapper’s “Heartless” song, when out of nowhere, West appeared onstage and began performing to the roaring crowd. The rapper performed “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” I Don’t Like” (Chief Keef cover), “Black Skinhead,” and “All Day.” This marks West’s first time at Coachella since 2011, and it was one fans sure won’t forget.
Coachella 2015 will wrap tonight, and Drake is scheduled to officially close the music festival this year. Drake is known for bringing out surprise guests, and tonight’s performance should be no exception. The rapper already made “headlines” (no pun intended), for bringing Madonna onstage during the first weekend of Coachella. There may not be too many artists who can top Madonna’s surprise appearance onstage with Drake. Although the pop singer didn’t perform with Drake, the kiss Madonna planted on the rapper almost broke the Internet. The kiss may have been discussed more for its disgust, than its sex appeal, but there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Right?
Coachella is hours away from wrapping up another legendary year. Some of the festival’s highlights so far include Zack de la Rocha unexpectedly joining Run the Jewels onstage, a powerful performance from Florence and the Machine (although she broke her foot), a legendary ode to hip hop with Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, and arguably the best performance so far was The Weeknd‘s main stage set during weekend one. The Weeknd transitioned himself from R&B star into R&B superstardom during his stellar performance.
Perhaps the the moment that wasn’t so great was Justin Bieber‘s run in with Coachella’s security. The pop star was put into a chokehold by security, and he was allegedly thrown out of the music festival. Bieber wanted to watch Drake’s Coachella’s performance from the artist area, but he was told the room was at capacity. After a verbal altercation with security, the incident took a turn for the worse when security physically attacked Bieber. As a result, Bieber missed the make-out session between Drake and Madonna, and so it’s safe to say he didn’t really miss out on much.
