Britney Spears Takes a Crazy Onstage Tumble

Pop superstar Britney Spears has returned to her stage at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for a new leg of shows on her Britney: Piece of Me residency. While she was onstage for a performance last night (April 29) Spears made it through the majority of her show without a hitch; however, she took an unexpected tumble during a performance of her hit single “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” As the musician was executing the high-energy choreography her legs went out from underneath her, and the star visually stumbled and was seen limping offstage with the assistance of her dancers.

Fans were quick to hop on social media to wish Britney Spears a speedy recovery after video from the tumble went viral. Just as quickly Spears hopped on her account to tweet out her gratitude for the well wishes and explain her injury. “Thank you for all of the sweet wishes,” Spears exclaimed before explaining that she “had a little scare on stage tonight with my ankle, but I’m ok!” It is unclear whether she sprained the ankle or what caused the stumble. In the immortal words of Spears, it seems as though she is “stronger than yesterday” and will not allow the injury to slow her down.

This is hardly the first time that Britney Spears has had suffered an injury while performing. The musician famously had to cancel a string of performances on her 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour after falling on set of a video shoot for her single “Outrageous.” Doctors found cartilage floating in her knee, and Spears had to undergo arthroscopic surgery to rectify the injury. This left the musician sidelined for several months and brought her In The Zone era to a sudden and unexpected end. The effects of the injury have plagued the celebrity ever since, and many fans were fearful that her knee was the cause of last night’s stumble.

Luckily enough, it seems as though Britney Spears will make a rapid recovery and will be back onstage for her next set of performances. Spears also has a busy schedule filled with upcoming promotion for her collaborative single “Pretty Girls.” She and Iggy Azalea will be releasing the single on May 4 with a video coming the following week. Spears and Azalea are also set to perform the single onstage at the Billboard Music Awards on May 17. Things are rapidly picking up for Spears, as the musician’s cover of “Tom’s Diner” with Giorgio Moroder leaked to the public last week. It seems as though the musician will need to be at the top of her peak for a busy promotional schedule.
