The artist lineup for the FYF Fest (also known as the F**k Yeah Fest) has been unveiled. D’Angelo and The Vanguard, Frank Ocean, and Morrissey have been announced as the festival’s headliners. The festival will take place in Los Angeles (CA) on August 22nd and 23rd. Tickets will be available on May 8th at 3pm (Eastern standard time) on the FYF Fest website. Some of the other artists on the lineup include FKA Twigs, Flume, Purity Ring, Bloc Party, Solange, Belle & Sebastian, Run the Jewels, Savages, Chet Faker, and Mac DeMarco.
D’Angelo recently revealed the dates for his Second Coming tour. The R&B singer and The Vanguard will travel to several cities in North America this summer. The 14-date tour will launch on June 7th in Oakland (CA). The other dates on the Second Coming includes a show in Los Angeles on the 8th, Denver, Colorado on the 10th; Kansas City, Missouri on the 11th; Manchester, Tennessee on the 13th; Atlanta, Georgia on the 14th; Dallas, Texas on the 16th; Houston, Texas on the 17th; Norfolk, Virginia on the 20th; Forest Hills, New York on the 21st; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the 23rd; Washington, DC on June 25th; and Royal Oak, Michigan on the 27th. The US leg of the tour will conclude on June 28th in Sayreville, New Jersey. Tickets for the Second Coming US tour are on sale now.
The soul singer’s Black Messiah album was released in 2014. The project entered the Billboard 200 album chart at Number 5, and it reached Number 1 on both the US Top Tastemaker and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It also impacted the music charts in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Australia, Switzerland, Denmark, and New Zealand. D’Angelo’s other studio albums include Brown Sugar and Voodoo. His debut album Brown Sugar was dropped in 1995, and it featured the singles “Brown Sugar,” “Cruisin’,” “Lady,” and “Me and Those Dreamin’ Eyes of Mine.” The single “Brown Sugar” impacted the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at Number 5, the UK Singles at Number 24, and the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 27.
His sophomore project, Voodoo, featured production from Raphael Saadiq and DJ Premier, and it was released in 2000. Voodoo reached the top of the Billboard 200, after it sold over 300,000 copies in its first week. “Devil’s Pie,” “Left & Right,” “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” “Send It On,” and “Feel Like Makin’ Love” were all dropped as singles from Voodoo.
