August Alsina revealed on social media that he is going blind. The R&B singer is battling with a eye disease, and he has completely lost vision in his left eye. “I have this eye disease… Blind in my left, and losing vision in my right,” the singer wrote on Instagram. Alsina stated he is undergoing eye surgery in hopes the procedure will restore his vision. “In order to prevent my eyesight from deteriorating I had to do this surgery. This shit is beyond painful & life be throwin’ a n***a curve balls but what I’ve gained from it all is priceless,” he stated.
Last year, Alsina collapsed onstage and he spent 3 days in a coma. According to his representatives, the singer suffered a seizure during his show, which caused him to pass out onstage. The only drug doctors at the hospital in New York found in Alsina’s system was marijuana, and they believed his seizure was the result of dehydration and exhaustion. The singer would later reveal that he suffered more than ten seizures while he was hospitalized.
The R&B singer is expected to join Chris Brown on his X Tour this summer. Due to the recent issues with his eyesight, Alsina will probably have to cancel his involvement with the tour. Whether or not another artist will replace Alsina, has yet to be determined. The other artists named on the X Tour include Omarion and Sevyn Streeter. Brown will launch his tour in Hildago, Texas on the June 10th. The rest of the dates on the tour include stops in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 12th; Southhaven, Mississippi on June 13th; and Biloxi, Mississippi on June 14th.
Alsina’s debut studio album is entitled Testimony, and it was released last year. The project has sold over 200,00 copies, and it reached Number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top R&B Albums chart. It also impacted the Billboard 200 at the Number 2 position.Testimony features the singles “I Luv This Shit” (featuring Trinidad James), “Ghetto,” “Numb” (featuring B.o.B and Yo Gotti), “Make It Home” (featuring Jeezy), “Kissin’ on My Tattoos,” and “No Love.”
