Hot 97’s Summer Jam to Stream Live on Tidal

Hot 97 just announced its infamous Summer Jam concert will exclusively stream live on Tidal this weekend on June 7th. Since 2012, the concert streamed live on Hot 97’s website for free, but the radio station decided to sign an agreement with Tidal in order to provide fans with the “hottest” content. The station also stated that Tidal is the biggest “emerging music platform out today.” This year’s Summer Jam artist lineup includes Chris Brown, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Omarion, Fetty Wap, Trey Songz, Fabolous, Meek Mill, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.Summer Jam is arguably the most superior hip hop concert of this era. Past guests at Summer Jam include Nas, 50 Cent, Wu-Tang, Eminem, The Game, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Tidal’s CEO Jay Z. Jay Z has become a staple for the legendary concert. In 2001, the New York rapper shocked the audience by bringing Michael Jackson onto the Summer Jam stage.

It was just announced yesterday that Lil Wayne has joined Tidal as one of the company’s co-owners. Wayne joins the list of co-owners which also includes Beyonce, Jack White, Usher, Alicia Keys, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Kanye West, J. Cole, and Jason Aldean. Jay Z purchased the music and video streaming company in March of this year. The New Orleans rapper made his co-ownership official by exclusively dropping a new song entitled “Glory” through the Tidal service. It was also reported that Wayne will perform a private concert called Tidal X. Jay Z, J. Cole, and Jack White also performed a Tidal X concert that streamed live on Tidal. Wayne’s Free Weezy album is expected to drop soon, and it may be released exclusively on Tidal.

To date, Tidal has offered their subscribers several exclusive perks which recently included the premiere of Beyonce and Nicki Minaj’s “Feeling Myself” music video. Tidal executives also announced the launch of Tidal’s new desktop apps for PC and Mac, as well as their plan to lower their subscription price to $4.99 (per month) for college students. Tidal reportedly has over 900,000 paid subscribers, and 200,000 Hi-Fi subscribers. The Hi-Fi subscribers pay rate is $29.99 a month for high-quality music and video streaming.
