2015 Teen Choice Award Nominations Announced

The 2015 Teen Choice Awards will broadcast live on the Fox network this summer. The host and performers have not been revealed yet, but the nominations for the event have been made public. The awards show will air on August 16th at 8pm (Eastern standard time). Perhaps the most noticeable nominations are in the Fashion Choice Male Hottie category. The category finds Zayn Malik competing against his former group One Direction; the other artists up for the Fashion Choice Male Hottie award include Austin Mahone, 5 Seconds of Summer, Justin Bieber, and Ryan Guzman.

The women in the Fashion Choice Female Hottie category include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Fifth Harmony, and Cara Delevigne. The nominees in the Choice Song Group category include One Direction’s “Steal My Girl,” Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It,” Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries,” Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “What I Like About You.” Ed Sheeran, Jason Derulo, Shawn Mendes, Sam Smith, Pitbull, and Nick Jonas are all nominated for Choice Male Artist. Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Iggy Azalea, Demi Lovato, and Ariana Grande are up for the Choice Female Artist award.

The rest of the categories for the Teen Choice Awards include: Choice Music Group Male- One Republic, One Direction, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, and 5 Seconds of Summer. Choir Music Group Female- The Barden Bellas, Little Mix, Icona Pop, Haim, Fifth Harmony, and Cimorelli. Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist- Wiz Khalifa, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Iggy Azalea, and Drake. Choice Country Artist- Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood, and Blake Shelton.

Choice Song Female Artist- Taylor Swift “Shake It Off,” Meghan Trainor “All About That Bass,” Kelly Clarkson “Heartbeat Song,” Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj “Bang Bang,” Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea “Pretty Girls,” and Ariana Grande “One Last Time.” Choice Song Male Artist- Sam Smith “Lay Me Down,” Skrillex & Diplo with Justin Bieber “Where Are You Now,” Shawn Mendes “Stitches,” Nick Jonas “Jealous,” Ed Sheeran “Thinking Out Loud,” and Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk.” Other than the music categories, there are also nominees in the television, comedy, and film industry. Fox’s breakout television show Empire received several nominations including Choice TV Show Drama, Terrence Howard and Jussie Smollett for Choice TV Actor Drama, and Taraji P. Henson for Choice TV Actress Drama.
