Lil Wayne made a big announcement onstage at KMEL’s Summer Jam in Oakland, California. The rapper told the crowd,”I just signed a deal with my motherf***ing idol Jay Z.” The “deal” for which Wayne is referring to is still unclear at this present moment. There’s a lot of speculation that the New Orleans rapper is referring to a management deal with Roc Nation. Cortez Bryant is currently Wayne’s manager, and he jumped to the defense of his client earlier this year in regards to the drama with Cash Money Records. As previously stated, Wayne is attempting to get his contract with the label terminated, and he is suing Cash Money CEO Bryan “Baby” Williams for more than $50 million dollars.

There is also a strong possibility Wayne‘s new deal announcement is his recent partnership with Jay Z’s Tidal. Earlier this month, the rapper joined Tidal as one of the company’s co-owners. Wayne dropped “Glory” exclusively on Tidal, and he’s also gearing up to do a Tidal X concert. Even though his project Tha Carter V is in limbo, Wayne is going to drop his Free Weezy album some time this year. To date, the rapper has dropped ten studio albums including Tha Block Is Hot, Lights Out, 500 Degreez, Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, Rebirth, I Am Not a Human Being, Tha Carter IV, and I Am Not a Human Being II. He also dropped a collaborative project with Birdman entitled Like Father, Like Sonin 2006.

Tha Carter III is widely considered as one of the best hip-hop albums of its era. It features production from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, David Banner, and Jim Jonsin. The project reached the top of the Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Top Rap Albums, and Canadian Albums chart. Led by the hit singles “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” “Got Money,” and “Mrs. Officer,” Tha Carter III sold over three million copies in the US. Wayne’s latest studio project I Am Not a Human Being II was released two years ago, and it has been certified Gold in the US. The album features the singles “My Homies Still,” “No Worries,” “Love Me,” and “Rich as F**k.”

FDRMX Eyes: “Birth of Venus” is a new release from Blue Nile, a newcomer to the Brooklyn ambient/esoteric electronica scene. Check out the video here!
