Zedd Amongst Day Two Acts at Firefly Fest

The opening day at Firefly Music Festival¬†was filled with dark clouds, rain, and muddy fields. Even with the bad weather, the attendees seemed to have had a blast- thanks to stellar performances by The Kooks, X Ambassadors, Jungle, Ryn Weaver, Cypher Clique, and Tycho. Even though there weren’t too many complaints about the rainy weather, it was refreshing to enter the festival with the sun beaming on day two. Clean Bandit kickstarted the second day of the festival, and the band rocked out onstage while people holding British flags sang along to their songs. Singer Elisabeth Troy (touring member) demanded the Firefly stage – her energy and powerful vocals put the festival-goers in a great mood.

Some of the other artists performing on day two include Zedd, Morrissey, Paul McCartney, Cage the Elephant, Echosmith, Modest Mouse, Awolnation, Run the Jewels, Walk the Moon, Odesza, and DJ Mustard. The legendary Paul McCartney, who is headlining this year, was one of the biggest draws at Firefly. Attendees, young and old, couldn’t help but gush over the icon. Many people wore Paul McCartney t-shirts in support of the rocker.

Firefly recently partnered with Red Frog Events and Goldenvoice in order to help the event reach its full potential. The partnership proved to work, and Firefly has its first sellout crowd of more than 90,000 attendees. “With the sell out and increased demand for Firefly passes this year, the demand for and accessibility of tickets on the secondary market is inevitable,” Red Frog Event’s Tad Jenkins stated. Firefly accredits its success to this year’s new additions, which include the Pavilion Stage and the Treehouse Stage. The Pavilion Stage is the festival’s first tented stage, and the Treehouse Stage features artists playing sessions at the event. Firefly also upgraded its arcade area, now referred to as The Beercade. The area now features a bar within the gaming area.

Firefly began on June 18th and it will conclude on the 21st at The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware. Some of the artists on the lineup for Saturday andSunday include Kings of Leon, Foster the People, Kid Cudi, Steve Aiko, Gary Clark Jr., The Killers, Snoop Dogg, Bastille, Empire of the Sun, and Hozier.
