Suicide Squad Trailer Premieres at Comic-Con

The fans at this year’s Comic-Con received the surprise of a lifetime. Not only did Suicide Squad director and screenwriter David Ayer take the stage to discuss the new film, but the viewing audience also got the chance to take an exclusive first look at Suicide Squad. Just as the crowd was yelling and screaming with excitement, the entire cast (excluding Jared Leto) also made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con. “We are banging out something that is absolutely fantastic,” Will Smith told the ecstatic crowd. Director Ayer added,”We were shooting last night in Toronto, but we had to come down because you guys run this sh*t.”

Suicide Squad is a superhero film based on the DC Comics of the same name. The film stars Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. The movie centers around imprisoned villains who were chosen by a government agency to perform covert operations. Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 16, 2016. The rest of the cast includes Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as government official Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Although the details of his character have not been revealed, rapper Common will also star in Suicide Squad.

There have also been reports that Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg will make cameos in the Suicide Squad too. Affleck is portraying the role of Batman in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, and Eisenberg will star as Lex Luthor. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25, 2016. Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, and Laurence Fishburne will also star in the movie. Although it has not been confirmed, Affleck is reportedly in talks to direct, co-write, and star in a standalone Batman film. Affleck is expected to start production on the Batman film after he wraps production on Live by Night. Live by Night is based on the novel of the same name, which was written by author Dennis Lehane. Affleck is directing Live by Night, and it will begin production in November.
