Earlier today, pop punk band New Found Glory released the music video for their new single “Vicious Love” featuring Hayley Williams. This song is the sixth track off of New Found Glory’s eighth studio album, Resurrection.

The entire music video for “Vicious Love” takes place at the Vicious Love tattoo parlor, where the members of New Found Glory (Jordan Pundik, Ian Grushka, Chad Gilbert, and Cyrus Bolooki) work. Odd couples enter the tattoo parlor with bizarre requests, and the guys of New Found Glory purposely mess up their tattoos every time. While the concept of this music video is quite odd, I believe that New Found Glory did a great job with their execution of it. Their acting is fairly good for a band, and their characters in the music video are definitely believable.

The song “Vicious Love” is an awesome pop-punk track as well. It has an epic, driving beat, and I can definitely see myself singing along to it at a New Found Glory concert. Furthermore, Hayley Williams adds the perfect touch to this male-driven track with her powerful female vocals. Hayley and the band both sing the anthemic chorus that includes the lyrics “We’ve got a vicious love / We mix our tears with blood / No clock will stop for us / It ticks by / We fight as hard as we love / We’ve got a vicious love.” In the final chorus, Hayley sings an excellent harmony above lead singer Jordan’s melody that is undoubtedly one of the most exciting moments in this track.

My one criticism of this video is that Hayley Williams is not featured in it as much as she should have been. Her voice can be heard harmonizing with Jordan’s in every chorus, but she is only featured on camera during her verse. I would have liked to see her engage with New Found Glory more and possibly even be one of the customers in the tattoo parlor. However, despite her lack of time on camera, Hayley’s voice excelled throughout the entire track and made the song ten times better than it would have been without her.

Originally from Florida, New Found Glory was founded in 1997 and has been making music ever since. In 2013, following several felony charges, the group removed guitarist Steve Klein and continued as a four-piece. Starting in October, New Found Glory will be on tour throughout the United States.
