Number Eight: She Loves Her “Lambily.” Mariah calls her followers her “lambs,” a practice she began in 2000. It apparently originated as a term of endearment; however, there is speculation that she calls her fans her lambs in reference to the way they follow her.
Number Seven: She Was Part of the Longest-Running Number One Song in History. “One Sweet Day,” a song that Carey recorded with Boyz II Men, holds a record for the longest-running number one song in the history of the world. That’s one sweet song.
Number Six: She Was Supposed to Sing a Line in a Hole Song. In the Hole song “Samantha,” Courtney Love wanted someone to sing a specific lyric. She first asked The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, but Carey allegedly volunteered. While Carey did end up singing it, it was never actually recorded.
Number Five: She Suffered a Serious Breakdown in 2001. Carey spent two weeks in a mental hospital in Connected two months before her movie, Glitter, was released. The breakdown was apparently brought on by extreme exhaustion. One of the most bizarre things she did during this time involved her going on MTV’s TRL unannounced and say, “If you don’t have ice cream in your life, sometimes you just might go a little bit crazy.”
Number Four: The Soundtrack for Glitter Was Released on a Very Bad Day. The soundtrack for Carey’s feature film, Glitter, was unfortunately released on September 11, 2001. The movie came out two weeks later.
Number Three: Her Legs Are Insured for Some Serious Dough. Carey has some iconic gams, but how much are they worth? Well, to answer your question, they are insured for a hefty $1 billion.
Number Two: She Took a Shot at Eminem in One of Her Songs. Carey’s song “Obsessed” is apparently aimed at Eminem. She wrote the song after Eminem continued to mention her in several of his songs in a derogatory way.
Number One: She Has Sex to Her Own Music. According to an interview Carey’s ex-husband, Nick Cannon, did with Howard Stern, he and Carey used to have sex to her music. Creepy.
