Rita Ora: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Rita Ora may be just 25 years old, but she is already a rising star. The “Body on Me” singer’s first album debuted at number one in the U.K., and she is still going strong. However, despite the fact that Ora has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight, there are still some things that many people do not know about her. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Rita Ora. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: She Was Not Born in the U.K. In fact, Ora was actually born in Kosovo to Kosovar Albanian parents. She moved to England with her family when she was just one-year-old. Shortly after, war broke out in Yugoslavia.

Number Fourteen: She Has Smart Parents. When Ora was born, her mother was a psychiatrist, and her father was an economist. Ora clearly comes from intelligent roots, and she also has two siblings – one sister and one brother.

Number Thirteen: She Was Put in Foster Care. Before Ora could live comfortably with her siblings and parents after moving to England, her parents’ situation had to be assessed. While it was being assessed, Ora and her siblings were placed in foster care.

Number Twelve: She Was Named After Another Famous Woman. In fact, Ora was named after the actress Rita Hayworth. Coincidence? Perhaps not.

Number Eleven: She Has an Interesting Surname. Rita Ora’s actual name is Rita Sahatciu. While we can’t blame her for changing that to Ora, Sahatciu actually translates to “watchmaker” in Albanian, which is quite interesting.

Number Ten: She Came From Humble Beginnings. Though Ora had talented parents, they were not extremely rich. After moving to London, Ora’s father had to work in a pizzeria to provide for his family. Eventually, he was able to open up his own pub.

Number Nine: She Is an Honorary Ambassador. Kosovo’s president, Atifete Jahjaga, named Ora an honorary ambassador to Kosov. We can’t blame him – she’s clearly putting a good face for the country out there!
