Forget taking it slow – let’s take it up a notch! Here, we present a list of the 10 fastest things in the known universe that are man-made. From cars to elevators, we’re covering it all. Check out the unbelievable speeds of these man-made things below!
Number Ten: Fastest Street-Legal Car. We’re going to mention two cars because depending on who you’re talking to you may get different answers. Strictly speaking, the Hennessey Venom GT is the world’s fastest car with a top speed of 270.49 miles per hour. However, it has not been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records because of a technicality involved with recording its speed. So, speaking from an official standpoint, the Buggati Veyron Super Sport is still the world’s fastest car with a top speed of 267.8 miles per hour.
Number Nine: Fastest Non-Production Car. The fastest non-production car is the Thrust SSC, otherwise known as the Thrust Super Sonic Car. It was the first car ever to break the sound barrier and can go up to 763 miles per hour.
Number Eight: Fastest Man. Though many people might not think of humans as being man-made, we technically all are! Usain Bolt is the fastest man of all time with a top speed of 27.7 miles per hour.
Number Seven: Fastest Computer. China’s Tianhe 2 is the world’s fastest computer ever. It can perform 33.86 quadrillion floating operations in just one second. To put that in perspective, that’s 4,000 times better than Apple’s fastest Mac computer.
Number Six: Fastest Ambulance. The fastest ambulance is called the Lotus Evora, although it resembles a sports car more than it does an ambulance. That might be because it actually is a sports car that can perform all of the same functions of a regular ambulance. It can hit a top speed of 185 miles per hour.
Number Five: Fastest Rapper. Ricky Brown, otherwise known as NoClue is the fastest rapper in the world. He can rap at a record-breaking speed of 14.1 syllables per second.
Number Four: Fastest Water Slide. The fastest water slide ever made is the Insano located in Brazil. The slide is 41 meters high, and people who ride it reach speeds of up to 65 miles per hour.
Number Three: Fastest Aircraft. At 2,193 miles per hour, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is the world’s fastest aircraft. Interestingly, the aircraft is over 50 years old, but it has special engines that have yet to be upstaged by any other aircraft.
Number Two: Fastest Roller Coaster. The fastest roller coaster ever to exist is the Formula Rossa, located in Abu Dhabi. It reaches speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. It is also the sixth longest roller coaster in the world.
Number One: Fastest Elevator. China’s Shanghai Tower is home to the world’s fastest elevator. The skyscraper is 1,739 feet tall (China’s tallest), and the elevator inside it can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. However, the elevator is far from a thrilling amusement ride, and precautions have been taken to ensure passengers are comfortable while they ride.
