We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Bob Seger, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the singer and musician that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: He Is an Avid Sailor. And he has even won a competition doing it. In both 2001 and 2002, Seger competed in the Port Huron to Mackinac Boat Race on his sailboat called Lightning, which is 52 feet long. He won both years!

Number Seven: He Used Music to Escape. Seger’s father left the family when he was just 10 years old. As a coping mechanism, Seger would often stay up late with a transistor radio and an earplug and listen to James Brown, Little Richard, Otis Redding, and Garnett Mimms.

Number Six: He Ran Track in High School. Seger could run an impressive 5:05 mile in high school, and he was heavily involved in track until he became interested in music. Once he became interested in music, he started staying out late and hanging out with friends more, and his athletic prowess diminished.

Number Five: He Has an Amazing Work Ethic. And he has had one from the very beginning. In 1975, Seger played an impressive 260 public performances.

Number Four: He Did a Lot of Driving. Seger did so much driving that he actually considered himself to be more of a driver than a singer at one point. He and his band once drove 25 hours down to Florida to perform for three nights, and then they drove 25 hours back because they couldn’t afford a motel room.

Number Three: He Collaborated With 3 Doors Down. Seger was featured on 3 Doors Down’s “Landing in London” as a singer. The song is from their album titled Seventeen Days.

Number Two: He Has Been Married Three Times. Seger’s first marriage was in 1968, and it only lasted about a year. His next marriage was to Annette Sinclair, and his current marriage is to Juanita Dorricott, whom he married in 1993. They have two children together.

Number One: His Career Spans Five Decades. As if this weren’t impressive enough, Seger continues to work! The man is clearly an energizer bunny – and a talented one, at that.
