The internet is a vast world of knowledge with an infinite number of purposes, and it is not hard to believe that there is still so much that we don’t know about it. The internet can be used for professional careers, educating yourself, killing time with games, or even killing time with little factoids like the ones we are about to show you. Don’t forget to check out the second set of what you don’t know about the internet in our Part 2 article, coming soon!

Number Eleven: Thirty Percent of the Internet is Porn. Honestly, I would have assumed the percentage is much higher. With all of the universal uses for the technology of the internet, it really is rather unsettling that the majority of internet users are partaking in sexual internet pleasures.

Number Ten: Camps for Addicts? In China, extreme use of the web can prove to have dire consequences. Treatment camps are available for internet users who fear they have become “internet addicts”. I hope they are taking care of the problem from the first fact, too!

Number Nine: 30,000 Sites Hacked Daily. This is only an average, but it is estimated that 30,000 websites are hacked every day. We all know how dangerous it can be to use the internet, and we advise you to take caution when using your personal information online. This fact is scary; we all saw what happened with Ashley Madison, and your favorite site could be the next victim.

Number Eight: Everest is Connected. If you plan on hiking the impressive climb up to the top of Mount Everest, you can rest assured that there is a web connection along the way. High speed, at that. Although we have to admit, we are not exactly sure how well it works, or if it is password protected. That’s on you to find out.

Number Seven: One Link for 105 Years. A journalist new to the world of online blogging could face a charge of a hundred and five years if they don’t do their homework. Such a sentence is charged if a U.S. journalist posts a single link on the web when they don’t have permission to do so.
