South Park: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about South Park, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the show created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: They Were Rated NC-17. The movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was originally given a rating of NC-17 for its controversial content. The movie was released in 1999.

Number Seven: Every Episode Has an Alien. One interesting South Park easter egg (or easter alien, rather) is the fact that if you look hard enough, you can find an alien in every single episode. It’s true!

Number Six: Kyle Was Almost Killed Off. Stone and Parker almost killed off the iconic character of Kyle. He was going to be killed off in season five because the creators thought he was too similar to Stan. Thankfully, Kyle stayed on.

Number Five: They Make Episodes in Six Days. In fact, Stone and Parker only being making new episodes just six days before the episode is supposed to air. We imagine this is so they can include the most up-to-date pop culture and social references. Stone and Parker have only missed one deadline in South Park‘s history, and that’s because the studios lost power.

Number Four: The First Episode Took Over Three Months to Complete. Though Stone and Parker complete episodes in six days now, the very first episode of South Park took three and a half months to complete. The budget for the episode was $300,000.

Number Three: They Hid an Episode in a Video Game. The video game company EA had to recall Tiger Woods 99 because somehow, an entire episode of South Park was hidden inside the game. We’ll keep our copy of that game, thanks!

Number Two: A Celebrity Is in Every Episode. Whether it’s simply a mention or a guest appearance, a celebrity is in every single episode of the show.

Number One: They Get Away With Some Crazy Stuff. The theme song for the first season of the show features Kenny singing in a muffled voice. Because his voice is so muffled, Stone and Parker got away with having Kenny sing “I like girls with big vaginas / I like girls with big fat ti**ies” without being censored at all.
