Angry Birds has become one of the most recognizable games of its time. The video game, which began as an app, has exploded in popularity, and it continues to be popular today. However, despite all the time Angry Birds has spent under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. Here, we present our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Angry Birds. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: The Game Was Inspired by a Sketch of Wingless Birds. Angry Birds was developed by Rovio Entertainment, and the idea for the game originated from a sketch of wingless birds.

Number Fourteen: More Than 12 Million Copies Have Been Purchased or Downloaded. And that’s just from Apple‘s App Store! The first version of the game launched in 2009 on the iOS platform for Apple, and since then, more than 12 million copies have been downloaded or purchased from the App Store.

Number Thirteen: They Have Their Own Cartoon Series. The series is in Finnish, and it is based completely on the game. The plot of the series centers arounds the rivalry between the birds and pigs.

Number Twelve: They Have Their Own Themed Books, Too. It’s true! If you search for “Angry Birds books,” you’ll get a wealth of responses on Google. One example title of a themed book is National Geographic Angry Birds Space.

Number Eleven: The Pigs Have Their Own Game. The pigs featured in the game became so popular in their own right that now they even have their own game! The game is called Bad Piggies, and the objective is to control them while attempting to steal eggs from the Angry Birds.

Number Ten: There Is an Angry Birds Soda. A company called Olvi made soft drinks based on the popular game in 2012. The flavors of the soft drinks include “tropic,” “paradise,” “lagoon,” and “space-comet.”

Number Nine: They Are Featured in Theme Parks. In both China and Finland, you can visit theme parks that feature rides or attractions surrounding Angry Birds. Stay tuned for part two of our list, coming soon!
