Number Eight: He Doesn’t Want to be “Macho.” Andrea Bocelli has said that he associated being “macho” with being stupid, and he would rather be considered smart than macho.
Number Seven: He Thinks Sex Is the Enemy. Well, sort of. Bocelli believes that it’s necessary to rest before a performance, and sex can distract him from his preparations.
Number Six: He Hates Traveling. Despite the fact that Bocelli has done loads of traveling for his career, he actually hates it. He would rather be at home, in Tuscany, where he lives.
Number Five: He Sings to His Daughter. Aw! Bocelli says that he has sung to his daughter, Virginia, since she was just a fetus in her mother’s womb. He is incredibly excited to be a father.
Number Four: He’s Been Blind Since He Was 12. Bocelli was born with eye problems, and in fact, doctors told his parents that they should abort him because he would almost definitely be born with a disability. He was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, and he lost his sight completely when he was 12 years old at a football game.
Number Three: He’s a Grand Officer. Bocelli was named a “Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic” in 2006. He definitely deserves it!
Number Two: He Sang for the Pope. Bocelli was able to sing for the Pope in 2000 after his father, Alessandro Bocelli, died. After he sang for the Pope in Rome, he had to return to Italy immediately afterward to attend his father’s funeral.
