You might have heard of 5 Seconds of Summer – you know, that crazy famous Australian rock band? Well, if you haven’t, we’ve got a treat for you. Despite the fact that 5 Seconds of Summer have spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about 5SOS. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Fifteen: Green Day Is Their Spirit Animal. The group aspires to be just like Green Day, and they’re doing a pretty good job so far. Drummer Ashton Irwin has said that Green Day’s Bullet in a Bible is incredibly inspiring for him.
Number Fourteen: But Don’t Call Them “Pop-Punk.” According to the band, being called “pop-punk” is isolating and also minimizing. The band might encapsulate the pop-punk sound now, but in two years, who knows? They’re willing to evolve.
Number Thirteen: They Want This Tour to Be Different From Their Last One. 5 Seconds of Summer’s first tour was pretty standard, but for their The Sounds Live Feels Live Tour, they really want to go the extra mile. They’ve said that they might try some new things, including opening and closing with the same exact song.
Number Twelve: They Want to Be a Stadium Band. One of 5SOS’s ultimate goals is to be a band that people buy tickets for and get excited to see. They already are that, but they also want to sell out stadiums. Hopefully, they’ll achieve this goal on their new tour!
Number Eleven: They’re Fans of VH1’s Behind the Music. It’s true! Frontman Luke Hemmings has said he’s watched many episodes of the popular show and really enjoys it, especially because it shows the band members which mistakes not to make.
Number Ten: Their Guitarist Played in a Church Band. Guitarist Michael Clifford played guitar in his private Christian school’s church band. However, he admitted that religion isn’t a huge part of his life anymore.
Number Nine: Clifford Wants to Connect With Fans, Not Take Pics With Them. If you’re one of those people who spends hours trying to get the perfect selfie by ambushing celebrities, you should probably stay away from Michael Clifford. Clifford says he would rather have a conversation with a fan than take a picture with one. Stay tuned for part two of our list of 15 things you didn’t know about 5 Seconds of Summer, coming soon!
