Titanic is a classic film released in 1997. Based on a true story, the film went on to captivate many viewers and has become a classic that will live on forever. Here are some facts you didn’t know about the film.

Number Fifteen: The Titanic Took Two Hours and 40 Minutes to Sink

And the film is exactly this long. The movie also has 37 seconds in between the warning about the iceberg and the actual collision, which is a realistic portrayal of how the historic eventĀ actually transpired.

Number Fourteen: Jack Was Almost Played by Someone Else

We all know Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson. Someone else playing the role is absolutely unthinkable to anyone who has seen the movie, but it’s true that other actors were considered for the role, including Matthew McConaughey and Chris O’Donnell.

Number Thirteen: ‘I’m the King of the World!’ was Improvised

This famous line was not actually in the script. Leonardo said it on impulse, and it ended up being one of the most famous and memorable lines inĀ the movie.

Number Twelve: The Couple in Bed Really Existed

You probably remember the scene of the cabins on the boat filling up with water, and the old couple lying in bed together. It turns out this was based on a real couple. The wife was offered a seat on a lifeboat but forewent it in order to stay with her love.

Number Eleven: Kathy Bates Was Not the First Choice for ‘The Unsinkable Molly Brown’

Though it’s hard to imagine, they originally had Reba McEntire in mind for this role. She declined because of scheduling conflicts. Margaret Brown was a real person who aided many survivors on the sinking boat.

Number Ten: James Cameron’s Hands Were Drawing Rose

In the scene where Jack Dawson is drawing Rose, those are not actually his hands. James is left-handed, so they had to impose a mirroring effect on the scene in order to fit with Jack’s right-handedness.

Number Nine: Someone Drugged the Cast

No one ever found out who did this, but someone mixed PCP into the food served to the cast and crew toward the end of the filming. Over a hundred people fell ill as a result. We hope you found this article interesting and be sure to check back soon for part two.
